CometChat's latest update come with 2 new features. Users can now send private messages directly in response to a group chat and user can remove the 'deleted message' tag from chats. These feature are now available for CometChat's Chat Widgets and UI Kits

Here's more on them:

1. Send Private Messages From Group Chat

If you're a part of a group conversation, there are a lot of conversations going on. Perhaps one of the messages catches your eye, and a group member is awaiting a private response, or perhaps a message has a question that you'd like to address personally to that group member.

This feature is very handy in such scenarios. We have now provided an option to send a message privately.

How You Can Use It

Any message sent by a group member can be selected. You will have the option to select ‘Send a private message.' On selecting, you will be directed to the member's private chat space. You can then have a one-on-one conversation with a group member where you can continue with your private chat.

**Here are the steps to control the settings
**

For Chat widgets, please follow these steps

  • Sign up on CometChat dashboard

  • Create a widget or pick a chat widget

  • Select Chat Widget main settings

  • Select Groups

  • Enable ‘Send message in private to a group member’

  • Click on Save & Done

Once done, you can then start messaging in private from a group chat

For UI Kits, check out the UI kit settings and enable/disable the feature as required

2. Hide Deleted Messages From Chat

You may use this feature when you wish to hide any deleted messages. This can be specially used by the moderator of a group. As the moderator will have an option to delete other users' messages in a group. Using this feature, it can seem magical that an unnecessary message never existed.

You could use it otherwise to just keep your Chats clean when a message is deleted.

How You Can Use It

It's simple. You switch on hiding deleted messages toggle for Chat Widgets and the message just disappears on deleting a message.

Here are the steps to control the settings

For Chat widgets,

  • Sign up on CometChat dashboard
