CometChat Android SDKs Now Support Google Play’s 16 KB Page-Size Requirement

CometChat Android SDKs and UI Kits now support Google Play’s new Android 15 requirement for 16 KB page sizes. No functional changes required immediately - upgrade only when you publish your next version.

Starting November 1, 2025, the Google Play Console will require all new apps and updates targeting Android 15 (or higher) to support 16 KB page sizes.

At CometChat, we’ve updated our Android SDKs and UI Kits so you’re covered when it comes time to publish or update your app.

Why this matters

Modern Android devices and architectures are evolving, and supporting 16 KB page sizes ensures your app builds and updates will remain compatible with future-proof hardware and OS versions. If you’re planning an app update or new feature rollout that will be submitted through Google Play, this requirement is relevant.

Existing apps that are already live and aren’t being updated are not impacted at this moment.

Updated CometChat Versions

To ensure compatibility when you publish or update your app, please ensure you’re using the calls SDK version 4.2.+ (or newer)

If you are planning a release with new features or enhancements, be sure your project includes Calls SDK version 4.2.0 or higher.

Key points to remember

  • There are no changes in logic or functionality in these SDK updates.

  • These updates are purely architectural in nature and required for compliance with Google’s new standard.

  • You do not need to update immediately if your app is already published and you are not planning a new submission.

  • The requirement only applies when you publish a new version or update through Google Play after November 1, 2025.

Next steps

  • If you are planning to publish or update your app, verify your dependencies and upgrade to the versions listed (or newer).

  • If you’re not planning a release soon, you’re good for now. No immediate action is required.

  • Should you need any help verifying your integration or upgrading your SDKs, please contact our team via the support portal.
