Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the best way to get started with CometChat?
A: The easiest way to get started and see what CometChat can provide for your user experience is to sign up and use a Sample App or the Chat Widget to launch a fully functional chat app in just minutes. There is even a sample app running in the browser in our documentation. If later you want to continue to customize the chat experience you can then move to using a UI Kit to get a fine-tuned integration with your website or mobile app.

A: CometChat is designed to provide user-to-user chat across any supported platform. All users in your app are connected through a single “CometChat App” regardless of what technology or platform they are using.
Q: What can I do if I want to prevent users from offending others on my app when they are in chat?
A: CometChat provides a robust set of chat and voice/video functionality that your users have come to expect based on their experiences in other social and chat apps. To provide even more capabilities CometChat provides a robust Extensions platform and over 40 (and counting) out-of-the box add-ons. There are a set of extensions that enable moderation of users and messages. By enabling any of the moderation extensions you can achieve moderation such as profanity filtering or blocking of messages with a negative sentiment analysis score.
