I would recommend CometChat to anyone who would be prepared to listen. It is clean, simple, unobtrusive, and simply works!
I have had no trouble with CometChat since the initial install, and it has sat at the bottom of my page ever since working 24/7 with not even a hiccup to speak of. I own three chat scripts that serve this same type of function but CometChat is the one I use.
The ability to customize the toolbar (without having to hack it myself) is a fantastic and highly desirable element of the script that speaks volumes of the thoughtful approach of the developers here, and clear instructions made the job a breeze - I am perhaps a medium level web admin, like hacking a bit of code and making adjustments but couldn't quite write anything useful. I was overjoyed to find this script and it has lived up to and actually surpassed my expectations.
There is an obvious and overt desire to please the customers (despite somewhat of a myriad of incredibly random and diverse feature requests that would in most scripts be considered a sell-able item on its own). This work looks like it is going to surpass my expectations some more still!
