This article addresses the issue of Who’s Online list being empty and CometChat’s one-on-one chat functionality not working.

If you are facing this issue, your bar will appear as follows. Note that there is no text message like “You have no friends…” in Who’s Online list. It will be completely blank.

Solution

Base URL is incorrect

If your base URL is incorrect then the images will not appear and CometChat will fail to function. The BASE_URL is usually ‘/cometchat/’ when the CometChat folder is uploaded to the root. You can modify the base URL by logging into administration panel and selecting the Settings Tab. Then click on Change Base URL and update the path.
